Now if the rest of the council would just wake up and figure out that he's got a good business head on his shoulders and doesn't live in the pocket of the developers, we might actually get something done in this town. What happened to all the fiscally responsible conservatives who used to have strong voices in Colorado Springs? Did they all turn to mush when Obama was elected? Obama's going to unfortunately rock our world so we'd better be prepared and Paige is one of those people who know how to do that.

For FactFinder: No I-70 in Colorado Springs. When McInnis uses term I think it's a euphamism for defense contracters like Boeing, Ratheon and Northrop-Grumman which are located along I-70 in Aurora.

Mr. Paige says that eminent domain should be only for national security reasons and not for economic development. But the proposed expansion of Pinon Canyon doesn't meet his criteria. Both Scott Ritter and the Pinon Canyon Expansion Opposition Coalition disagree with Mr. Paige about Pinon Canyon. McInnis has said repeatedly that it's not about patriotism or military necessity but rather that it is about economic development. Specifically, the benefit of defense contractors in El Paso County and along the I-70 corridor. McInnis has correctly pointed out that the Army has options available to them on land that they already own, and he has cited Kay Baily Hutchinson's suggestion that the Army should use existing resources at Fort Bliss in Texas as an example.

The Pinon Canyon Expansion Opposition Coalition agrees with McInnis on all of these points; it's not a matter of patriotism or national security or military necessity, and the Army has options. But we disagree with him that the troops should be used as an economic development tool for any for any region or economic sector; not for El Paso County and not for defense contractors along the I-70 corridor.

If this guy could back pedal a real bicycle as good as he did in this interview, he could be in the circus.

I am disappointed, but not surprised.

Council could have elected an orangutang to the spot, (which only means I should have applied.....) and nothing would have changed. Sean is the ideal selection because, now, they can claim a more diverse council and it won't matter because....they'll just out vote him. No harm, no foul, and good press......

Maybe the council is smarter than we think................... on second thought, .....Nah.........

Why don't you go through every job description in the city and see if we are making the job requirments to high for the job. Many times this also increased the salary for that job. What if we found out that a particular job did not really require a college degree. Maybe previous experience could substitute for the degree. How much money could this save the city.
