How could you leave out Amendment 2, which caused us to be the epicenter of the Hate State controversy? I forget the name of the local jackass who authored the damn thing, but I think it's fair to say that we're still burdened by the aftermath of an intolerant statewide amendment.

Well, I for one, applaud the ever grating Doug Bruce. Government needs to have some built in brakes. Look at what is happening when we have a one party government jack booting over the Constitution and any attempt at common sense.
As for citizen initiatives, well they are at least in touch with the population. You make the assumption that government is better at planning and executing than the citizenship, and I hold up your #3,4, 6 and 7 plus my example above. I, like our founding fathers, do not trust government to get very much right.
Let's add another major screwup of Colorado Springs in trying to turn the downtown area into another LODO. Of course, nobody paid any attention to what went on in LODO at night. Now, we have rampant crime, drunks wandering the streets and a general citizenry that really doesn't want to take their wives and families downtown anymore, especially at night. What attracted me to Colorado Springs all those years ago, was that it was nice small city with low crime rates and family friendly venues and values.
Now, we have a shootings, murders or extremely violent crimes almost every night. Thanks for providing us with a modern American city.
