ACS toolbox now includes outplacement

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. which operates an inbound call center on the Verizon campus in Colorado Springs and employs 600 people, has added a new component to its broader list of corporate client services.

The company’s existing Human Capital Management Solutions division currently provides human resources services to more than 4 million employees and retirees in more than 80 countries worldwide in 20 languages.

The most recent addition – ACS Transition Services – was formed to help companies facing job reductions with a Web-based service that helps laid-off employees quickly get their next job. Transition services, a field recently featured – and parodied — in the movie, Up in the Air, has typically relied upon in-office space and group seminars, which have been found to be of low value to employees, said Mark Squiers, executive managing director for the company’s Human Resources Outsourcing division.

“This is a new model … one that is geared to providing strong returns for both employers and employees,” he said.

By using software that allows downsizing firms forced to implement job reductions with a Web-based service, employees can get help finding their next job faster – and employers save about half the cost of traditional outplacement services.

The business model is fairly straightforward and designed for maximum return in minimum time. Once assigned, the ACS transition specialists provide one-on-one support and coaching, create a personalized, professionally written custom resume, assist job seekers with utilizing social networks in their job search, and delivers personalized leads from across the Web, the company said.
