During the past three weeks five local companies were notified they’d been awarded contracts for military and government work.

The big winner was Sanborn Map Co. which won a $12.5 million contract award from the Government Services Administration’s Federal Acquisition Service to provide “environmental services.”

A $9.57 million federal contract modification was also awarded to locally owned Service Master All Cleaning Service for custodial services to be provided to the U.S. Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base.

Cruz Construction Inc.  of Colorado Springs was also the low bidder, at $1.3 million, for a project to remove and upgrade guardrails along a 20-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 191, north of the Utah state line and along Wyoming Highway 233. The work is slated for completion by Aug. 31.

Velcon Filters was awarded a $50,225 federal contract from the Defense Logistics Agency’s defense supply center in Columbus, Ohio, for “coalescer” elements.

You & I Caterers of Colorado Springs won a $20,191 federal contract from the U.S. Army’s National Guard Bureau in Tacoma, Wash., to provide food service for the Army Guard personnel.
