Outlawing self-promotion would cut 20 minutes off each and every BoCC meeting just from the effect of eliminating Sallie Clark's opening monologue.

In addition, this bill should include a provision to require there be no 'party bashing' in public by elected officials. Had the cumulative amount of time the commissioners spent bad-mouthing the city, the state, and the feds, and Republicans in general and in total, that time might have been an adequate amount to come up with a plan to address the heavy revenue shortfall expected in 2012. With enough time left over to deal with the issue of cleavage at the county level.

If each of us were required to attend 6 county sessions, we might force ourselves to look more seriously at future candidates and work up detailed, specific questions of each candidate. Hard questions.
