FedEx has upgraded its aircraft at the Colorado Springs Airport to Boeing 757s.

The new equipment will allow FedEx to move closer to its goal of reducing fuel consumption up to 36 percent and lower greenhouse gas emissions 20 percent, said airport Aviation Director Mark Earle.

Company officials said it was targeting a 20-percent emissions reduction by 2020 across the global FedEx Express fleet, a move tied to broader strategic sustainability objectives.

The new aircraft began operation at the Colorado Springs Airport on March 1.
