The Colorado Department of Transportation opened bids today for the reconstruction of the C-470 and Santa Fe Drive interchange, a project that will use up the last of the agency’s federal stimulus money that it’s already been granted.
Stimulus money will pay about $4.6 million of the total project. The rest of the project will be paid for using money from CDOT, Douglas County and other, non-stimulus federal funds.
All together, CDOT received about $400 million in money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The project calls for a dramatic flyover ramp for traffic from southbound Santa Fe to eastbound C-470. The project also includes the construction of an extra lane on eastbound C-470 to accommodate traffic as the road rises.
