Employers in El Paso and Teller counties facing possible layoffs can now take advantage of a new grant program offered through the Pikes Peak Workforce Center.
The Incumbent Workers program provides grants for training so that companies can help their employees learn new skills or upgrade existing skills to ensure business competitiveness.
Grant funds are currently available to train full-time, permanent, non-contractual workers who earn at least $12 per hour.
Companies demonstrating that training may help avoid future layoffs will be given priority for the grants.
Grants are limited to $30,000 per company. The training funds will be awarded through a competitive process. Applications can be found online at www.ppwfc.org and must be submitted by April 9.
