The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments is hosting the Fort Carson Community Partnership Town Hall from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. today, April 16, at the Doubletree Hotel, World Arena , 1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Fort Carson Community Partnership Town Hall meeting will address: Fort Carson’s growth and troop projections; the impacts of troop deployments on the region; an overview of Phase II of the Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan; key findings from the Growth Plan; and recommendations from Phase II.
Check-in begins at 2 p.m. in the Doubletree’s Colorado Springs Ballroom Lobby, and the main presentation is from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m., in the Colorado Springs Ballroom.
The presentation will include information about current activities at Fort Carson and key findings from Phase II of the Fort Carson Regional Growth Plan.
Jeri Howells, mayor of the City of Fountain will give the opening address. Brig. Gen. James F. Pasquarette, deputy commanding general, support, for Fort Carson’s 4th Infantry Division, will give an overview of Fort Carson’ s plan. Wayne Williams, El Paso County Commissioner and PPACG board chairman, will discuss key points of the growth-plan.
A panel discussion, moderated by Jon Karroll, of KRDO News Channel 13, will be from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., when audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of community leaders.
Panelists will include Pasquarette; Col. Robert F McLaughlin, garrison commander of Fort Carson; Robert F. MacDonald, executive director of Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments; Brian Binn, president, Military Affairs Division, of the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce; and Terrance McWilliams, director of military support for the El Pomar Foundation.
After the panel discussion, an open house will be held from 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. in the Windows Banquet Room.
