Damron decides not to run

Filed under: Daily News | Tags:, ,

Clerk and Recorder candidate Sandra Damron has decided not to petition onto the Republican Party ballot for the August primary.

County Commissioner Wayne Williams, who is also running, now faces no opposition during the August primary for the job, which is now held by term-limited Bob Balink.

Public Trustee Thomas Mowle is running as a Democrat.

Damron, who is the county treasurer, received enough delegate votes at the Republican Assembly on April 10 to petition onto the ballot.

“After much thought and discussion with my family, friends, and supporters, I have made the decision to not petition on to the ballot, and thus to end my campaign for El Paso County Clerk and Recorder,” Damron said. “I have concluded that my energy is better spent supporting our Republican candidates, both in the primary and in the General Election this fall.”
