Marijuana rules awaiting vote in Colo. Senate

Proposed regulations for medical marijuana dispensaries are awaiting another vote in the Colorado Senate.

Senators could hold a final vote on the legislation as early as Thursday, a day after giving preliminary approval to the rules.

On Wednesday, senators opened the door to waiving sales tax on pot sales to some patients but made no other major changes to the bill. That makes it more likely that regulations will be passed before lawmakers adjourn next week.

The bill allows cities and counties to ban dispensaries and limits individual caregivers from providing marijuana to more than five people.

If the Senate approves it, it would have to go back to the House where lawmakers would vote on whether to agree with changes senators made.
