I may not be completely up to speed on historical politics, but didn’t Republicans/conservatives used to be known for believing in individual liberties and everyone being responsible for themselves and keeping government out of their lives? So what’s the deal – does that only apply when their government and majority of their fellow Americans are telling them who they can and can’t keep as slaves or that ensuring that every whack-job that wants to carry a bazooka down the street doesn’t really make anyone but him feel safer? “I want government to stay out of peoples’ personal lives unless it’s people I don’t like and then I’d like government to make life as hard as possible for them.”
