The Glenwood Springs City Council is backing a moratorium restricting new medical marijuana dispensaries in town for six months.
The Council voted 4-3 last week on first reading to approve the moratorium on processing applications for new dispensaries. It would take effect June 17.
Bills awaiting Gov. Bill Ritter’s signature would impose statewide regulations on dispensaries, but a moratorium in Glenwood Springs would give city staff time to analyze the need for local regulations.
Glenwood Springs has eight dispensaries within town limits.
