Colorado Springs-based Colorado Interstate Gas Company – a subsidiary of El Paso Corp. –  began construction June 1 on the 2010 Raton Expansion Project.

The 119-mile, 16-inch diameter pipeline will traverse Las Animas, Huerfano, Pueblo and El Paso counties in southern Colorado. The project will transport additional natural gas out of the Raton Basin to delivery points throughout the Rocky Mountain West.

El Paso Corp. owns North America’s largest interstate natural gas pipeline system and one of North America’s largest independent natural gas producers.
