Forbes magazine has ranked Denver No. 8 on its list of the best cities where recent college graduate can embark on a high-paying career.

Each city was ranked based on its current unemployment rate, what people earn, the local cost of living and the number of local companies.

Forbes also counted how many members of the class of 2000 at several elite colleges — Princeton University, Harvard University, Stanford University, Duke University, Rice University and Northwestern University — are currently living in each city.

Houston tops the list, followed by Washington, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, Boston, Dallas, Seattle, Denver, Atlanta and Austin.
