Terence E. Doherty of Doherty Law Firm, P.C. has been awarded the 2010 Colorado Springs Small Business Development Center Volunteer of the Year award.

Gary L. Bress, president and chief operating officer of Aleut Facilities Support Services, will retire Sept.30 after 10 years of service.

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado has named five new members to its board of directors:

Robert A. Penkhus, president and owner of Bob Penkhus/Volvo/Mazda/Volkswagen

Matt Colligan, division manager of Champion Windows, Siding and Doors in Colorado Springs

Susan Bell-Smith, vice president of marketing and contracting, PENRAD Imaging/Colorado Springs Radiologists, PC

Shelby Austin, owner of the Austin Insurance Agency in Pueblo, Colorado.

Mark Weidhaas has been named to the select 2010 Class of Fellow Members with the National Society of Professional Engineers.  Weidhaas has 30 years’ experience as a structural engineer and manages commercial design work at RMG Engineers Group, a Colorado Springs-based structural and geotechnical engineering company.

Daniel Young has joined Peak Vista Health Centers as a dentist. Young most recently worked at a practice in Monument. Specializing in general dentistry, Young received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale.

Community Health Partnership has appointed Carol Bruce-Fritz as its first executive director. Founded in 1992, CHP is a coalition of independent organizations addressing health care issues in El Paso County. Bruce-Fritz has more than25 years experience in the nonprofit sector.

Paul H. Chan, general counsel for the University of Denver, has been named president of the Colorado Bar Association. He is the first Asian Pacific American to lead the CBA in its 113 years.

Jenni Smith has been appointed president and general manager of Park City Mountain Resort. Most recently, Smith served as vice president of administration and development for the resort.

Tyson Hartshorn of New Planet Technologies was given the 2010 Colorado Springs Business Journal’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the UCCS Small Business Development Center’s Small Business Day on June 10.

Goodwill Staffing manager Steve Tooke has received the Certified Staffing Professional credential from the American Staffing Association.  He has worked at Goodwill Industries of Colorado Springs for 19 years and has led its full-service staffing agency since its inception eleven years ago.

Jennifer Kelley of Goodwill Staffing has been promoted to account executive.

Courtney Clement has joined Forte Events as a sales representative. She will sell event design and to corporate and non-profit clients.  She grew up in Colorado Springs and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from UCCS.
