New car sales up 9.2 percent so far this year

The Colorado Automobile Dealers Association says that new car sales are up 9.2 percent for the first half of 2010 compared to the same time last year.

The association’s “Colorado Auto Outlook Report” says 51,456 new cars and light trucks were registered in the state in the first half of the year, 23,446 of them in the second quarter.

New auto registrations in Colorado fell 28.3 percent in 2009 from the previous year, worse than the nationwide decline of 21.5 percent.

Used-car and used-truck registrations are down 10.8 percent in the year’s first half, to 81,908, from the same period of 2009, and are down 7.4 percent in the second quarter.
