County claims eight national awards

Eight El Paso County office and programs received eight achievement awards at the 2010 National Association of Counties’ annual conference in Washoe County, Nev.

Three of the eight award winners received additional recognition from the judges for demonstrating ‘Best Practices’ based on their innovation, resourcefulness and outreach to residents in difficult economic times.

They included: the Sheriff Office’s Reintegration and Recovery Program, El Paso County Parks Division’s County Fair Sustainability Program and the Fleet Management Division’s Proactive Maintenance Program.

El Paso County’s 2010 NACo Achievement Award winning campaigns included: Training and Employment Connection for County Residents (Information Technologies Department); Child Welfare Military Project (Department of Human Services); County Fair Sustainability (Parks Division); “Operation Medicine Round-up”: Household Medication Disposal Program (Environmental Services Division); Prescription Discount Card Program (El Paso County Administration); Proactive Maintenance Program (Fleet Management Division); Reintegration and Recovery Program (Sheriff’s Office); Teen Self-Sufficiency Program (Department of Human Services).
