Focus on the Family will run statewide ads during Denver Broncos games for the first time this season.

The Colorado Springs-based family-counseling ministry attracted a lot of attention by running an ad during the Super Bowl featuring Tim Tebow, now a Broncos’ rookie quarterback.

There are no plans to include Tebow, an evangelical Christian, in the new ads for the Colorado campaign.

Focus says many of its employees are excited Tebow is playing for the home team but his popularity wasn’t the impetus for the ads. Vice president Gary Schneeberger says the success of its Super Bowl ad showed that football is a good way to reach families.

He says the ads won’t be political or religious but will touch on social issues, such as promoting adoption.

    1. M.M.Mills Says:

Interesting….God decided it was better to spend money on football game ads rather than 110 members of his flock.

    2. Matt Says:

Not that I care, but I understand that this money was specifically earmarked for the ads by a private donor. Working in non-profit myself, sometimes these are the realities we face.

It will be interesting to see the content of the ads.
