Springs’ colleges lead Forbes Colorado “best” list

Two Colorado Springs colleges made it on to the Forbes.com “Best Colleges” list.

They were the highest-ranked of 11 Colorado schools on the list of the top 610 best schools.

The United States Air Force Academy ranked No. 11 (down from No. 7 last year) and Colorado College was No. 51 (up from 53 in 2009).

Other ranked Colorado colleges for 2010 and (2009) include:

No. 168:  Colorado School of Mines in Golden  (up from 275)

No. 185:  University of Colorado, Boulder (up from 187)

No. 207:  University of Denver  (down from 178)

No. 306:  Colorado State University in Fort Collins (down from 302)

No. 352:  University of Colorado, Denver (down from 224)

No. 456:  Western State College (down from 215)

No. 469:  Fort Lewis College in Durango (down from 246)

No. 534:  Metropolitan State College in Denver (down from 380)

No. 555:  Mesa State College in Grand Junction (down from 326)

The rankings are based on the quality of the education provided, the experience of the students and how much they achieve, Forbes said.
