Local law enforcement agencies are partnering to conduct random commercial vehicle safety inspections on Aug. 18.
The Colorado Springs Police Department, the Colorado State Patrol, the Colorado Department of Revenue, the El Paso County Sheriff’s department and the Monument Police Department will be teaming up for the inspections
While random inspections are common, it’s uncommon that so many agencies would be working together on inspections, said Spring police spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt, who attributed added manpower to a desire to work together to promote vehicle safety.
Commercial vehicle accidents commonly result in serious injury or death, Noblitt said.
The federally regulated inspections cover driver qualifications, fatigue, vehicle maintenance, properly secured loads and safety equipment.
