Gallup says 18% of Americans unemployed or underemployed

A Gallup poll says that 18.4 percent of U.S. workers say they are either unemployed or underemployed.

The survey of 81.6 percent have jobs, but the unemployed/underemployed number has been between the high-teens and 20 percent throughout the year. Gallup surveys 19,800 American workers each month.
“Underemployed” is defined as working part-time while wanting to work full-time.

The unemployment rate stands at 9.5 percent, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Colorado’s unemployment rate was 8 percent in April, May and June, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

      I just wonder who is really counting heads here.

      In my age group I would suggest that there is in actuality some 25 to 30% underemployed or unemployed.

      I am a baby boomer. Please comment and suggest a good resource to verify or debunk my comment.

      Thank you EDC & the Chamber for all of those WONDERFUL Call Center jobs! What will be your next major accomplishment? Perhaps you’ll wise up to the fact that “Pay to Learn” Colleges – re: Everest – are currently under Federal scrunity! Keep touting that triumph while PUBLIC taxpayer supported higher education struggles! Nothing like having ex-military run things here! They do such a wonderful job …. what do they care … they already are getting a pension & why not “double dip!”
