Blackmun promises downtown Olympic rings by Sept. 23.

Since the U. S. Olympic Committee moved into its newly renovated building at 27 S. Tejon St. early this year, the building has lacked any identifying mark.

The Olympic rings are conspicuously absent, to the dismay of downtown advocates and Olympic fans alike.

That’s about to change.

Scott Blackmun, the USOC’s newly-minted CEO, said the rings would be mounted before Sept. 23rd, when the Olympic Assembly convenes in Colorado Springs.

Why the delay?

“We didn’t just want to throw something up,” said Blackmun. “We wanted to make sure that the signage was appropriate and substantial. We’re committed to having it in place by the 23rd.”

One Response to Blackmun promises downtown Olympic rings by Sept. 23.
