A Colorado pot grower will be in court for a hearing before his trial scheduled for Sept. 20 on federal drug charges.
Christopher Bartkowicz was charged with cultivating and distributing marijuana after federal drug agents raided his suburban Denver home this spring. The hearing in federal court Wednesday will focus on motions filed by his defense attorneys seeking to suppress evidence in the case, including statements.
Court documents say Bartkowicz showed federal agents marijuana he was growing and allegedly gave agents a binder full of state medical marijuana registry cards. Bartkowicz says he thought he was following state law.
Prosecutors want to prevent Bartkowicz from using the state’s medical marijuana law in his defense.
