The City of Colorado Springs has launched two efforts to help businesses that want to compete for municipal contracts.
A how-to video that offers a tutorial about the request-for-proposal process has been posted on the city’s website, and a workshop about the city’s procurement process will be offered.

The Local Business Opportunity Workshop is scheduled from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 28, at the Leon Young Service Center, Pikes Peak Room, 1521 Hancock Expressway. Procurement staff members from the city, Colorado Springs Utilities, El Paso County, School District 11 and the State of Colorado will be on hand to answer questions.
“We hope the video will take some of the mystery out of the RFP process and encourage more individuals and companies to submit proposals,” said Curt Decapite, procurement services manager for the city.
The City does not have a bidding list of suppliers. Instead, the city posts RFP opportunities in the Contracting Office lobby in the City Administration Building and on its website.
