Construction begins today outside the West Gate at Peterson Air Force Base. Work crews will begin repairing some flaws underneath the road’s surface.
Traffic along Stewart Avenue will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes from Paine Street through the west gate to the bridge.
Construction is expected to last until Oct. 28. During that time, crews will fix a design problem from the initial construction in November 2007. Repairs will be made to the road base and the lanes will be repaved.
Drivers are urged to use either the east gate or the north gate which will be open one hour earlier to help ease congestion, according to Peterson officials.
