A Colorado proposal to outlaw abortion was petitioned onto ballots largely through efforts at churches.
On Monday a group of faith leaders is meeting with reporters to show that not all faith leaders support the so-called “personhood” amendment, which is on Colorado ballots next month.
Abortion-rights supporters say the measure goes too far because it would outlaw abortions even in cases of rape and incest and could prohibit some types of fertility treatments.
The abortion amendment has failed to get the backing of the Catholic church in Colorado. The Jewish Community Relations Council and some other religious groups oppose the amendment.
