A public forum sponsored by those opposing ballot question 1A, which would ban medical marijuana centers in the unincorporated areas of the county, is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Carnegie Room at the Penrose Library.
Citizens for Safer Communities is sponsoring the event. It claims the ban will destroy jobs, cause bankruptcies, decrease government revenue and deny access to care for county residents.
Steve Hammers, president of Hammers Construction, will discuss why he thinks passage of 1A will hurt the local economy. Lono Ho’ala, a biochemist, author and Kahuna Priest, will talk about how the measure might harm neighborhoods.
