The Space Foundation is looking for a bigger, better facility.
In a statement today, director Elliot Pulham said the Colorado-Springs based nonprofit group needed additional room to grow.
“The Space Foundation is actively engaged in a search for a more capable headquarters that will allow us to contribute more to the community, and better serve our needs for the future, than our present facility, ” he said. “We are being actively supported by the EDC and other community leaders. While it is too early to announce anything, we hope to be in a position to do so before the end of the year.”
The Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp. is leading the effort to find $1 million for a new building for the foundation, which focuses on the global space community.
Several cities have launched efforts to lure the organization away from Colorado Springs, and with it, its annual symposium, which draws more than 8,000 aerospace professionals to The Broadmoor every April.
