Chapel Hills Mall owner emerges from bankruptcy

The owner of Chapel Hills Mall emerged from bankruptcy yesterday.

General Growth Properties will now decide the fate of the Colorado Springs mall and 12 other “underperforming” centers later this week.

“It’s business as usual here,” said Chapel Hills Mall general manager Dave Moss. “There has been no impact to our operations right now.”

But changes are likely ahead.

Bankruptcy court documents indidcate that General Growth would prefer to either sell the property or return it to lenders.
