A local music festival, dance company, the Chinese New Year Festival and a local art gallery all received grants from the Bee Vradenburg Foundation.

The foundation gave awards to the Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute for the 2011 Chinese New Year Festival, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for their programs on campus and in downtown galleries, and the La Foret Conference and Retreat Center for its Meadowgrass Music Festival. Ormao Dance Company and KCME also received grants for general operations.

The foundation is also launching a new program for college students interested in the arts – a paid summer internship. The foundation will partner interested students with local arts nonprofit organizations. The foundation pays the majority of the intern’s salary and payroll taxes.

The internships are available to students who were involved with local arts organizations during high school in El Paso County. For more information, call the foundation at 719-477-0185.

The next grand submission deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 3, 2011.
