Crown Plaza Hotel has added four new people to its management team. Toby Reed is the new business travel sales manager; Becky Brunet is now senior catering manager; Carolyn Ross is now outlets manager; and Robin Canada is the new human resources director.

Chana Kolman has taken a job with Accredited Members as corporate event coordinator. She brings marketing and event coordination experience from the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Jim Dissett is the new director of brand communications for Vladimir Jones. He most recently served as the general manager and director of public relations at RIESTER’s Salt Lake City office where he oversaw the strategic consultation for such brands as PacifiCorp Energy, California Department of Conservation and UnitedHealthcare of Arizona and Utah.

Goodwill Staffing’s Mike Garner, Jennifer Kelley and Josie Caruso-Rathe have received Certified Staffing Professional credentials from the American Staffing Association. The CSP designation demonstrates industry wide competency standards in labor and employment law principles and ethical practices through a uniform national program.

Bill Hodgkins is the new chairman of the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Mike Jorgensen of Red Noland Cadillac is the board’s chair-elect, and Chris Blees of BiggsKofford P.C. has been its board’s secretary and treasurer.

Catherine Nowak is the new director of development and marketing for the Pikes Peak Red Cross. She brings over 20 years of special event fundraising and marketing experience to the position. She will be responsible for financial development efforts through the management of communication programs. She was most recently director of marketing for Bob Penkhus.

Eden Ripingill is the new small group sales executive for Kaiser Permanente in southern Colorado. Ripingill will cover small group sales in El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Pueblo counties, as well as the rest of the Southern Colorado service area. She most recently worked for Pacificare, Anthem as an employee benefits broker. She also is president-elect for the Colorado Association of Health Underwriters.

Dr. Peter Pappas has joined Decisive Analytics Corp. as an employee owner and chief scientist. He previously served as the chief scientist for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. He represented the command and the Army on numerous boards and committees including several defense and Army science boards.

Kevin Patterson owner of The Patterson Group recently attended the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing’s annual Leaders in Luxury conference. Only 100 of the nation’s top luxury home brokers are invited to attend the conference.

Amy Tankovich is the new human resources manager for Security Service Federal Credit Union. She previously worked at Norbel Credit Union, which merged with Security Service in late July. She has more than 20 years experience working in the banking and credit union industry.

Elliott Roberts has been appointed to serve as a commercial loan officer for Security Service Federal Credit Union in its Colorado market. Prior to joining Security Service, he was employed with Champion Bank as a chief credit officer.

Dr. Frances Pilch, professor in the Air Force Academy’s Department of Political Science, has been named the 2010 Colorado Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. This year there are 38 state winners chosen from more than 300 top professors. Pilch earned her bachelor’s in political science at the University of Connecticut and her master’s and doctorate degrees in international relations from Yale University. She has taught at the Academy since 1998 and serves as the political science department deputy head.
