Ross Auction, one of the oldest continuously operating businesses in Colorado Springs, has moved to 815 South Sierra Madre, seven blocks from its former location.
Since 1965, Ross has occupied the building at 109 S. Sierra Madre St., where generations of buyers and sellers have both consigned and purchased items.
The auction house was founded by Jack Ross in 1921. The new building will be the third location for the company.
“We move pretty slowly,” said owner Bill Neal. “We moved here in 1965, and before that we were in a building on Cascade. I guess you could say that we move every 45 years.”
The new building will offer added amenities.
“We’ll have much more parking, good handicapped access, and a lot more space,” said Neal. “We had our last auction in the old place on Saturday, and we’ll have our first one in the new building on Friday-so it’ll be a busy week.”
