Army extends comment period on aviation brigade

The Army has extended the period for public comment regarding placement of a Combat Aviation Brigade.
Just two days after Congressman Doug Lamborn and Colorado Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet sent a formal request to extend the Dec. 20 deadline, the Army said it will allow public comment until Jan. 7.
The Army has called for comments on its recently-released Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement, which reviews environmental effects related to expanding the brigades. The PEIS is available at http://aec.army.mil/usaec/nepa/topics00.html.
The Army expects to make a decision next year, and has listed three potential options for additional brigades: Maintain the current force structure by not creating additional units; create one new brigade at either Fort Carson or Joint Base Lewis-McChord; or establish a new brigade at both Fort Carson and Lewis-McChord.
