The Colorado Transportation Commission announced nearly $21 million will be spent on statewide and regional transit projects over the next three years.

The funding, provided through the Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery, allows Colorado Springs to replace 34 vanpool vehicles, and maintain Front Range Express commuter buses.

El Paso County was awarded funding to support a Park ‘n Ride facility in Black Forest, and to purchase equipment for a multi-agency call center for elderly and disabled transportation services.

In Jan. 2011, the commission will reconvene to consider recommendations for distributing an additional $15 million also made available through FASTER.

More information about the statewide projects is available here.
