Boulder County sets 2025 zero-waste goal

Boulder commissioners have approved a plan to achieve a goal of becoming a zero-waste county by 2025.

The commissioners adopted the plan earlier this month that outlines 28 recommendations to divert most waste from landfills. About 35 percent of waste throughout the county is currently diverted from landfills by initiatives that include recycling and composting.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports that some of the new recommendations include requiring zero-waste planning for large events, increasing the collection of electronics for recycling, and supporting a ban on recyclables that go to landfills.
