State’s two new congressmen head to Washington

Colorado’s two new congressmen take office Wednesday.

Republicans Scott Tipton of Cortez and Gory Gardner of Yuma take oaths in Washington to join the 112th Congress. Colorado’s House delegation becomes majority Republican, with four Republicans and three Democrats.

Colorado’s Republican House Speaker-designee Frank McNulty is headed to Washington to see the swearing-in. Two Republican state lawmakers are also going – Amy Stephens and B.J. Nikkel.

Also taking the oath of office Wednesday is Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, who will begin his first full term. Bennet was appointed to the Senate in 2009 and elected in November for a full six years.
