Hickenlooper says state needs business regulations

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is telling Colorado business leaders they need some level of state regulation.

Hickenlooper told members of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry on Thursday that he’s going to cut red tape and streamline government regulations. However, he said businesses have to recognize that they can’t be self-regulating.

He said his administration is now trying to determine the appropriate level of red tape.

Hickenlooper pointed out that the state has cut the time it takes oil and gas companies to get drilling permits from from an average of 74 days to 42. He says he’s looking at other state agency rules as well.
