FedEx opened its first environmentally sustainable data center, located next to the FedEX Rocky Mountain Tech Center, at 350 Spectrum Loop in Colorado Springs.
It is hoping to attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for the building.
FedEx says it can be considered “the most energy efficient data center in the United States.”
Phase one of the 140,000 square foot building was completed in 2008. Phase two upgraded the infrastructure and added an additional 26,000 square feet. During the next three years, FedEx technology teams will move core systems and applications from the Customer Technology Center in Memphis to Colorado Springs. The massive migration of data is already in progress.
