A new veterans’ park under construction in Fort Collins honors servicemen from northern Colorado.

The Northern Colorado Veterans Plaza breaks ground Monday. Officials say the park will be complete in late July. It is scheduled to include an amphitheater with seating for 500 and a garden with interactive walls commemorating veterans from the area.

Trees dedicated to a service member’s honor are being sold for a $1,000 donation. The park will also have rock walls inset with flat-screen monitors scrolling the names of the region’s veterans and active duty service members.

Organizers hope to raise $200,000 to complete the park.
