Real estate broker and political newcomer Steve Bach will face downtown businessman and former city councilman Richard Skorman in the final contest to become the city’s first strong mayor.

According to preliminary polling results, the two claimed the most votes for strong mayor in the city’s spring mail-in ballot election, which came to an end last night.

They will now compete for votes in another all mail-in ballot contest that ends May 17.

While there are are still some 10,000 votes to be counted today, winners of both the mayoral and city council elections appear to be evident.

The top vote-getters among at-large city council contenders are:

  • Jan Martin
  • Merv Bennett
  • Val Snider
  • Brandy R. Williams
  • Tim Leigh

In District 3, newcomer Lisa Czelatdko narrowly leads former state representative Michael Merrifield.

In District 2, Angela Dougan was ahead of four other candidates.
