Nike extends USOC sponsorship through 2016

Nike, Inc. will extend its sponsorship as official outfitter of the US Olympic Committee through 2016, the entities said in a joint release yesterday.

Nike will provide footwear, apparel and headwear for US Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the London 2012, Sochi 2014, and Rio de Janeiro 2016 games. Nike will also supply award uniforms for the US Youth Olympic , and US Pan American and Parapan American teams.

“Nike’s skill at developing performance-driven apparel and footwear has been instrumental in equipping US Olympians and Paralympians,” said USOC CEO Scott Blackmun.

Nike began it’s partnership with the USOC in 2005 as the official sponsor and licensee of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams at the Winter Games in Torino. In 2012, Nike will outfit nearly every sport at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, including the official uniforms for the USA archery, basketball, kayak, pentathalon, soccer, taekwondo, and track and field governing bodies.
