The Caring for Colorado Foundation has awarded low-income medical clinic AspenPointe a $50,000 grant to expand depression care for the uninsured.
The program uses professional staff members to support individuals in their efforts to manage depression. The voluntary and confidential telephone line also provides care coordination.
Thanks to the grant, between 90 and 120 uninsured adults will be served for the year. Most people only use the program for six months.
Caring for Colorado is based in Denver and makes accessible healh care a reality for people in Colorado through targeted grants.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, depression affects about one in five people each year and costs businesses $63 billion a year, with $36.6 billion from reduced productivity and increased absenteeism.
