42% of Colo. companies plan to hire this year

Forty-two percent of Colorado companies plan to hire workers this year, according to a just-released Mountain States Employers Council survey conducted in January.

Another 24 percent plan to hire for new positions.

Nearly half of the survey respondents said they plan to give pay raises from 2 to 4 percent this year, while 27 percent said they would maintain a pay freeze for workers.

Fifty-five percent said they expect to maintain their current staff size and hire only on an as-needed basis, while only 3 percent said they would cut staff this year, the “Personnel Pulse” survey of 313 Colorado organizations found.
