The Air Force Academy’s department of management maintained its accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, an accrediting body for schools offering undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
The accreditation provides validation of the AFA’s faculty and academic program, said Col. Andrew Armacost, permanent professor and head of the management department.
AACSB accreditation has been earned by less than 5 percent of the world’s business schools. There are currently 620 business schools in 38 countries that maintain the accreditation. About 177 instititions also maintain additional specialized AACSB accreditation for accounting programs.
The accreditation process can take several years – and it includes developing and implementing plans to meet the standards, a high quality teaching environment, a commitment to continuous improvement and curricula that is responsive to the needs
