More than 100 law enforcement agencies will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration to hold prescription drug take-back events Saturday.

“Prescription drug abuse is one of the gravest problems facing Colorado today,” said Attorney General John Suthers. “This continued partnership between the DEA and law enforcement will help keep these potent drugs off the streets and out of the hands of youth and others to abuse.”

The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three locations in the Colorado Springs area: El Paso County Department of Transportation, 3255 Akers Drive; Police Operations Center at 705 S. Nevada Ave,; and the Monument Police Department at 645 Beacon Light Rd.

Local law enforcement took back nearly five tons of prescription drugs during the event last year, held in September.
