Three trade organizations are building the largest gazebo on any U.S. military base at Iron Horse Park at Fort Carson, to illustrate their support of soldiers and their families.

The Colorado Association of Medical and Plumbing Contractors, Rocky Mountain Pipe Trade District Council 5, the Associated General Contractors of Colorado teamed together to build what they say is a “one of a kind” gazebo, 36 feet wide and 12-sided.

It will be used for welcome home parties and other events at the Mountain Post.

The three groups are asking for donations to complete the project. Sunday, June 5, they are holding a party at Mr. Biggs Family Fun center in Colorado Springs. Attendees can spend eight hours at the complex. Tickets are $40 each, or $35 when purchasing four or more.

Go to soldiersupportfund.org for information about purchasing event tickets, donations and information on event sponsorship opportunities for businesses.

The gazebo is expected to be completed this summer
