Downtown banners will tout USA Pro Cycling Challenge

Filed under: Daily News | Tags:, ,

To highlight the city’s role in the upcoming USA Pro Cycling Challenge, downtown Colorado Springs will soon be flying 30 colorful banners that depict a racing cyclist.

The Downtown Partnership will also feature a mural of a racer on the west side of the Alamo building.

The Springs will host the prologue stage of the race, which starts Aug. 22 and will feature 16 international teams and 128 cyclists. The competition lasts seven days in 11 Colorado cities and covers 600 miles through the Rocky Mountains.

The city will also be home to local challenges and contests, as well as an Aug. 20 opening gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and a fan-fest from 4 to 7 p.m. that same day.

  1. Thank you Amy for mentioning our colorful new downtown banners. We should have them up by June 15th. One small correction, the Fan Fest for the Pro Cycling event will be held on Sunday, August 21st. Save the date and look for more information in the future.
