Xcel Energy Inc.’s new contract with Boulder would give the city 90 percent of its power through renewable energy by 2020, instead of the current 10 to 15 percent, the Daily Camera reports.

Xcel is negotiating with Boulder to renew its franchise agreement, which is worth about $100 million a year. The utility said it’s offering to provide as much as 70 percent of Boulder’s power through renewable sources in the first year of a new deal.
