The publisher of two Colorado newspapers says the papers are ceasing publication.
Former Vail Daily owner Jim Pavelich says the Vail Mountaineer and the Denver Daily News are victims of the recession.
Pavelich and Associate Publisher Erinn Hoban-Chavez began publishing the Mountaineer in June 2008.
The newspaper was published six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday.
Pavelich told the Vail Daily that no one could predict the economic downturn.
Pavelich launched the Vail Daily in 1981 and the Summit Daily News in 1989. He sold the newspapers to Swift Newspapers in 1993 and started the Denver Daily News in 2001.
The Denver Daily News had a circulation of 25,000 copies daily Monday through Friday.
